Fashion and Textiles at the Colchester Institute

I recently saw the fashion and Textiles Degree Show at the Colchester Institute. There were lots of lovely things to include both womenswear and menswear; embroidery, print and knit. I have uploaded some images below, click here to view work from other students in the arts department.

Magnetic Wallpaper

Sian Zeng has created a beautiful collection of magnetic wallpapers. The designs were inspired by fairy tales. Each wallpaper visually narrates in an interactive way which allows the tales to be altered. The characters on the wallpaper are magnetic and equipped with speech bubbles that can be written on and placed anywhere. This is a lovely idea and could be lots of fun.

I was looking around Selfridges today as I was in the mood for inspiration and I discovered this danish design brand called Hay. Hay work with unusual colours, surfaces and shapes to create unique home accessories and furniture. I think the brave colour palettes are refreshing and the designs are bold and functional.

This is my 100th Blog Post.

Talented Students

I recently attended the art foundation and textiles degree show at the Colchester Institute because my sister was showing her work there. As this is also where I studied my art foundation course I thought it would be nice to go along and check it out. I saw lots of interesting things to include photography, ceramics, sculpture and textiles. I have uploaded my snaps to show off the interesting work. After all, we students are the future!
